thanks
the sway bar is not straight and the cross member you mentioned is missing. If I can not find one I will fab one up. I could use the C6 trans crossmember. Let me know If you want to let go of it.
I was looking underneath the body and things are solid but I think I will weld in 2X3 or 2X4 tubing between the front and rear box ends ifI go with the 8. I have to tear down the 351m and see what shape it is in. If it requires a full rebuild I may just put in the 6. I watch how much I put in so I can get my costs out if I have to. So the 351 m will only get a hone and rering, bearings, and good cleaing.I see Summit has a Holley 4 barrel and manifold for the M for $489. I just may get that and dump the 2 barrel and smog stuff. Is the 351m/400 considered a small block or a big block?
I am going to get my neighbor to help and try lowering in the "M" and see what is what.[sm=outcold.gif]any one have any ides on the motor mounts for the"M". all I can find is they are unique.????

Maybe the 4x4 Bronco and F series guys might know if the motor mounts are like the 429/460. I know that swapping the M for a 429/460 is popular with them.

Welcome! Actually, most Rangers have 7.5" rears but an 8.8 is possible. Check out this to determine what you have http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/Axles.html

the ranger uses a offset pumpkin with 2 different lenght axles the 351/400 uses standard small block tranny mounts technically they are small blocks from the cleveland type family but most all use a big block tranny bell housing bolt pattern although there are few that have the small bell housing

I have the wiring diagram I made to convert to electronic ignition. I have been running my 67 this way for about 20 years so I know it works. Maverik's and Granada's have 8" rears too that will bolt in if you can't find older Mustangs. They are about an inch narrow per side than a 67 however. Even the Mustang II's had an 8" in the V8 Mustangs. They had four lug wheels, that would make a sleeper if you kept four lug wheels all around with a 351M under the hood! I have a lead on an 8" housing from a 68 but it has no pumpkin or brakes. The axles are there. I can see what my buddy wants for it if you are interested.
