Default modifying stock seats

Sorry if this has been asked before (I did search and did not find any threads related). I was wondering if there is a way to mod the factory seats of a 1968 Mustang to allow the seat to tilt back. I am trying to find ways to get some extra room. I am 6'5" 300lbs and it is a tight fit especially with the manual transmission. My left leg hits the turn signal and wedges against the wheel and the arm rest when shifting gears (very annoying). If I could get the seat to tilt back a little more or maybe swap in tilt steering the problem would be solved. I already plan on removing the armrest style door pull and installing the pull straps to get a little extra leg room between the wheel and the door. Any other tall folks out there with "ecomomical" solutions to the legroom problems in these cars?
Thanks!

Dang..I'm 6'2" and I thought it was tight. Can't imagine 6'5"....

You can get 1-1.5" by redrilling the bottom of the seats and relocatig the seat tracks forward on the seats. This will make them be back that far. Next step is to lower the seat pans.

On my 65 and 66 there is a bolt screwed into the bottom of the vertical cushion that acts as a stop and crude rake adjust. I am 6'2" and I have removed this bolt entirely and you will gain a little recline. It really helps me. Not sure if your 68 is this design or not. The right way to do it is remove the pans (seat platform), cut the height, weld back in place a couple inches to the rear. I'm getting ready to put new (vintage) seats in my 66 and I am going to remove the pan altogether. No, I am not concerned about reducing the structural integrity as I have a seriously reinfored rear end with sub frame connectors, panhard bar and Watts link set up. Mine are going LOW and BACK!
