Need some opinions...
Here goes, I blew my trany and I am in the process of replacing it but at the same time I am doing some upgrades... now I am adding 2 external fluid coolers, one for the trany (because it died due to overheating) and one for the engine (http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku 2 of these) now I was told that it will not be enough (was told that the cooler was not efficient enough) for my trany due to the setup I have and the fact that I live in Southern AZ now I also purchased a 100amp alternator to replaced my worn out 60 amp and I was thinking about getting an electric fan to replace the flex fan I have now... here comes the questions.
First off, I herd that if you get an electric fan it will be allot more efficient than a flex fan (cooling more and not taking power from the engine), True or False?
if true then will the electric fan be enough in combination with the added trany and engine coolers to keep it cool enough?
also by adding a engine oil cooler where there was nothing to begin with then would I even need to get a better fan?
Note: I have a stock 3 core rad right now, and to clarify the engine temp was fine, just the trany overheated while I was driving on the interstate. It only overheated on the interstate after driving on it for awhile, and when I got off on to a frontage road and the city streets it would no longer overheat.
Any info/opinions would be great and if you need any more details just ask.
Thanks a bunch, Brian
P.S. The budget is starting to get tight so try to keep away from Extreme upgrades, I am trying to work with what I have and purchase as little as I can.

An electric will flow better than a flex fan, but it draws power from the alternator, which in turn draws HP from the engine. A good pull type fan should be fine for both the rad and the tranny cooler.
Why do you want an engine oil cooler if you're temperatures are fine? If your rad works in southern AZ, it ought to be fine anywhere.

yes the electric fans are a lot more efficient and yes they do rob Hp through the alternator but only when the car isnt moving. once you get past about 15 to 20 mph air flow is sufficient enough to cool the rad off with out the fan. The stock fan robs HP all the time and ESPECIALLY at high speeds when its doesn't do jack for the cooling systems.
But if everything is working fine with you cooling systems perhaps you should just leave them alone and sort out the trans issue?
How much will it cost to get your trans rebuilt? maybe that money would be better spent on a t5???
Good Luck

As far as rads, I'd use at least a 22/24(currently mine's 26), especially if you have engine mods & A/C in your future.
Today Ipicked up a fan controler that has a low and a high setting, when the engine temp reaches the low setting, the fan comes on half speed, as (if)the engine continues to heat up, the fan gradually goes to full speed as the engine aproaches the high setting.
I will try to install this tomorow.... It seems like thismight make an electic fan much more efficient.

Ok thanks guys, but as I was installing the new (at least to me) transmission I found out that I needed a new torque converter so I had to spend my budget money on it, so that means no electric fan any time soon....
The hope is that by doing an engine oil cooler and an electric fan then latter on down the road when I do more praformance modifications to my car I will not be required to get a larger rad.
for the price it is costing me I "should" have gotten a T5 and changed it over to manual.
