Question re: '65 6cyl Carbs
How does one adjust the cold idle speed on these carbs?
It has a non-electric choke, and I need to back the idle speed down a bit.
Anyone know about these '65 model carb chokes?
thanks!

do you have the Autolite 1100? google it for a pic of it.
if you do have it, I'll see if i can find mine and see exactly. basically, there are a few adjustment screws on it. I think on the 1100 it's on the drivers side, near the rear.

thanks, friend.
I have a Motorcraft with warm idles screw adjustment, but I don't know how to adjust the cold idle when the choke is activated. It's idling too high when cold.

Do you have an 1100 carb? If so it has two idle screws on left side of carb. One for high idle and one for low idle. Seems like the low idle screw is hidden. Have you ever checked out fordsix.com forum? There is a ton of info for the six cylinder cars. Do a search their for carb adjustments.
Thanks Lowell
Thanks Lowell
Ah now I see what you mean. I think the 2nd one, like Lowell mentioned, is "hidden." i also have the motorcraft. I will check this afternoon and see if I can give you a definite answer.

Oh, it cranks cold like a champ. Couple'a taps on the gas pedal, hit the key....vrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooommmm!!
But that's the problem: the engine is cold, no oil circulating and it immediately idles at a high rpm.
I'm thinking that is NOT good for the longterm health of the engine: cold/no oil/fast rpm.
