Default New engine temp question

I have the new 302 all built, dropped in and pretty darn well tuned and I've been putting probably 75 miles on it every day for the last week. The temp gauge never really gets past the C. It's the same temp gauge and sender that i had on the old engine which ran ran smack in the middle of the gauge. After a 30 mile trip this morning the vavle covers where warm but cool enough i could easily grab them and hold them with out it being too hot. Can an engine run too cold? Does all the aluminium and roller cam keep everything more efficient and cool? If anyone is curious i'm using the flo-kooler hi flow aluminum water pump.

Yes, running too cool is not good for the engine. What about your thermostat? Should be a 180 or 190F.

yep... just checked, it's a 160... bought on the reccommendation of the Kragen salesman :-( so getting the 180 will make that difference?

ya know... considering how people complain about there stangs running too hot, i've only ever had mine run very cool, even with the old engine... and yes i have a stock radiator, and i used to live in the central valley (100+ all summer)... funny how different the same cars can act.

The temp of my car is hot with a 160 degree thermostat , but when I get the fan a little closer to the engine , I'm hoping it will be running alot cooler, so I can put the 180 degree back in it .
