Default Value of a 66 convertible???

A co-worker has a 66 convertable in good shape for sale. I have not seen it yet. I know the I6 engine needs to be rebuilt and does not run. What would it go for roughly. I am in Vegas so rust is not an issue. Also, not sure but think its and auto. Not sure if it has air or not??? Or where could I go on the internet to find out?

Nicely restored, a six cylinder vert can fetch in the upper teens. Subtract the restoration cost from that number to place a value on its current value.

You might do a search on www.collectorcartraderonline.com This site has many mustangs and you can narrow your search for verts.

I think 9000 to 14000 for a nice straight six thats nothing special.....Like stated above it is hard to put a price on a specfic car without knowing what options, codes and condition.......I think 12000 to 18000 for the V8...and again these numbers maybe way off ....if you get into the car and start adding, replacing and updating parts you can sink 4000 in no time (brakes, body work,suspension,engine,chrome..ect)
hope this helps and Good Luck

I paid less than $5k for my '66 289 2V Automatic Convertible, restoration had already been started but the car ran & drove before disassembly. I plan to have ~$10k in it when I'm done - that's with all new front sheetmetal, bodywork and paint. Like it has been said, prices are all over the place. Good luck!

I paid $13k for my V8 a couple months ago. No rust, restoration done 12years ago, interior needs to be redone.

Two years ago, Ipaid $12m for my 66 vert, 200, 3spd. I put another grand into tires, clutch, and brakes. That range ($9m to $13m for a 6 vert)is what I see typically. My car, overall, VG condition: weekend driver for the last 28 years; new paint in 2003; older restoration on the interior. Most decent V8s around here (upper midwest) are priced $16m to $20m but can run a lot more. Classic car price guide book I have says deduct 30% for the 6 cyl for any body of early Mustang.
