The proper way to repair a crack in metal, is to drill a "stop" hole at the end of the crack, so it has no where to grow from. Then use standard welding & resurfacing techniques to finish the repair. If this aviation level of repair is too extreem, & depending on where the crack is; You may just want to put a fiberglass supporting patch on the back, & use bondo to resurface it. Kinda a ghetto repair.
The stop drill & weld, method is the best way.

Yeah, on re-reading your prolly right. So...
I dont know where to get the TV advertised plastic repair stuff,....Possibly using a dash mat to cover the cracked area, will work for you. However when the dash pad cracks are too bad, a compleat skin can be purchased to recover the dash pad with. I'd just get a new dash pad, and be done with it. Once a pad gets so brittle it starts cracking, its just gonna crack more.

I have thesame problem and i will try with poliurethane foam and then i will try to upholster the pad with some plastic leather. Maybe i will need a new one, I don't know if it worst the time or the money.

My vote is for a new pad. Easy to install and will prolly look better.

vote for a new one too. Every new part you put in the car makes look better and you will spend less time and money.

With that avatar, I would think you'd be an expert on "padding."
