408 stroker base hp?????
302 + good heads + roller cam + good induction/exhaust + EFI(or a good carbureted setup) = 380hp give or takeif you select the right parts and build it well. A 351 would be easier to do it and more forgiving if you slightly mismatch parts
Now that i come to think of it , Whats the liters on a 408 .
Also , Isnt the lack of stability on a 331 or 347 only come up when you excess around 450 hp ?
Or so ive read .... Also anyone know the tq on 302s ? I would much rather love the High Rpm tq and hp because it would be more streetable...?

There are a bazillion different ways you could make power. You could build a rediculously strong bottom end 302 off a Dart block that has a nitrous cam and mild heads and makes 330hp, but spray a 500 shot on top of it. You could build a giant cube stroker that just plain screams. A blown 302 etc etc etc. Pick what's in your budget and what you can handle. If You've never had a high horsepower vehicle before, don't go shooting for 400hp or more, you'll just end up crashing your car within 3 weeks of putting the engine in.
And a 408 is around 6.7L
