I bought this one from Mustangs Unlimited. Ive had to do a bunch of rework on it. Its still too short, and in profile the nose is too blunt.
Moral of the story Dont buy Fiberglass from Mustangs Unlimited.

I bought my fiberglass 67 Shelby style hood directly from Maier Racing in Hayward CA. www.maierracing.com

I believe it is the same hood that Mustangs Plus sells. By picking it up locally at the factory, I had the opportunity to check out the manufacturing process, check out the molds, the oven, the whole works.

The hood does not have metal supports but it is very thick fiberglass and I assume that I will not have problems with bowing (I HOPE!!!)

Anyways, mine cost about $450 + $25 for hood pins. Occasionally Maier has sales (when I bought mine, it was 10% off all fiberglass) The stock hinges work fine with it and I just ordered a hood prop designed for fiberglass hoods from CJ Pony Parts. ($34 + S&H) Definitely do not use the stock springs or you will have problems. BTW, it cost me $500 to have the hood fit, painted, and installed. But it looks beautiful and is almost a perfect paint match.

Good luck & no matter what you do, remember that you get what you pay for so buy the best you can afford.

I cant say anything about Mustangs Unlimited because I gave up on them due to their crappyassed website that seems to ALWAYS be down. But I did want to say that Mr Classic EFI, I think your Stang looks sick. I am not a show car judge but I think the hood looks fine so I wouldnt trip about it. You should be proud to roll on those wheels!

I would call Tony Branda, he has a couple different ones to offer and will tell you which is the best. The best is the most expensive though. Overall I think he has the best quality. I am not too crazy about Maier quality as I had about 1000 pinholes to fill. The Branda hood was flawless (steel reinforced too). I still do not recommend the use of hood hinges, prop rods work great.

I am looking for a 2 1/2 to 3 in cowl hood that has the metal structure. has any one found one? I am about to settle for the maijer hood but I haven't heard alot about their products. I would be happier with a metal hood but I haven't found anything close to what I want without having to stick my own hood scoop on my stock hood.

Tony,
67 Evil said he was not too impressed wsith Maier but I have to say the opposite. But as previous posters have said, there is something to be said about picking out your hood in person. Ordering a fiberglass hood online, sight unseen, sounds like a gamble to me. But to each his own. If you are near NorCal (I didnt take the time to view your profile, sorry) I would recommend a trip to Maier Racing in Hayward. They are good people and stand by their product. They have been making fiberglass Mustang parts for what...20-30 years now. They were among the first to provide this service.
Anyways, I dont know much about Branda but it sounds good too. Either way, good luck with your decsion. All I can say is that I am very pleased with my Shelby style 67 hood from Maier.
Cheers!

Ditto on this one for me too. The MR hood needed a little reworking, but otherwise looked and fitgreat. No complants here!
