Mustang don't posi trac - they have limited slip differentials. I'm guessing you have a 8" rear end. You can have either a shop put a trac loc and gears in or buy a 3rd member with it already set up.There are other cheaper options but plan on spending at least $500 or up to get it set up. Unless you have rebuilt rear ends before or you plan onswapping out the 3rd member better off leaving to a pro.

A nice Auburn unit (superior to the Ford Trac-Loc design) will run ~$400, plus a set of gears for another $200 (might as well upgrade while you're in there), plus labor, and you're looking at $800-1k for a LS install at a shop. Or you can just buy an entire LS center section, gears and all, ready to bolt in for like $600. That you can do in your garage without any special tools.

Posi would mean Chevy parts and I am sure you don't want Chevy parts in your classic Ford It is my personal mission to educate every one so that a Chevy term is not used on a Ford. Contact http://www.reiderracing.com they don't have any listings fo 8" parts but they can probably order an aubern powerelock unit for your 8". They sold me one for the Dana 44 in my IRS project for $275.00 shipped which was $100. cheeper than any others I found.

I used them also (Reider Racing), they are local and were recomended to me by a local racer. So far it looks like they did a good job on my axle (I really wish my car was back from paint [:@]) Now I just gotta get it back in my car .
