Those balancing weight thingies on the wheels...
My new Torque Thrust D's were mounted today, and I immediately noticed the inch-long balancing weights on the edge of each wheel (is that what they are called?)...

Do you guys think that's too distracting? Am I making a big deal out of nothing?
They told me they can be placed elsewhere (out of sight) but that they have a tendency to fall off.
I appreciate any input over the matter.
Thanks!

I'll have to look at the picture(s) when I get home.
Dynamic balancing requires that the balance weights be placed in two planes. With clip-on weights, that's the inside and outside flange lips. Stick-on weights do better on the inside of the wheel "barrel" as close to the edge of the wheel as practical rather than on the vertical flange faces themselves. Expect to have to tell the tire tech to make all measurements to the centerlines of where the weights are actually going to be stuck(not to the outer faces of the wheel flanges as is common practice) if he wants to hit 'zeroes' on the first try.
It is possible to get two plane balance weight mounting with both balance weight planes behind the spokes, but that approach is likely to require larger weights to achieve balance (and it may still not be as good of a balance either).
The racer approach to keeping stick-on weights stuck is to tape over the weights (duct tape or similar). Mostly invisible for weights behind the spokes. Needed most for the smaller weights.
I've always requested that if weights needed to be placed where they would be visible to just go ahead and put them there. What I'm buying is proper function, and as far as appearance compromises in anybody else's eyes goes - they'll be all but invisible when I'm driving anyway.

They look ok, but I would have them rotated up to 12 o' clock.
Seriously, I am a total obs. compulsive about things that no one will ever even see but me and until I read this postit never even crossed my mind that the weights on the outside of the wheel are asthetically unpleasing (although now you got me thinking). No really, they don't bother me a bit. It is functional first. Look past the weights to the minty mint new rims you got on your car and enjoy.

I'd stick them on the inside. I'm picky like that also and have run with weights on just the inside lip for the last 10 years. With new wheels and tires you won't be needing that much weight to get them balanced.
Plus, you don't want to have them bother you every time you are cleaning the wheels.
