Default intake manifold for a 302

what intake manifold should i use on my 302 build? im using a stock bottom end, i.e. crank and rods but a big cam with afr heads and valvetrain. im looking for excellent low end torque for quicker acceleration. should i use a performer rpm, air gap, or victor jr manifold? and any other information would be appreciated to. thanks

It sounds like you would be good with either the RPM or Air Gap. Should give you the low end torque you are looking for. I have been running the RPM for a long time and have been very happy with it. If I were to do it now I would go with the Air Gap. Good luck.

RPM for sure. A Victor Jr. works better at higher rpm. Not real good on the street.

So, why would you not want an Edelbrock Performer? Just curious... I have an Edelbrock carb, and an Edelbrock cam/lifter set and thought the combo would be a good thing. When I bought it I was looking for street type performance, not racing. What do you think?

I read somewhere that a Performer was no more than a stock replacement only benefit was the weight savings, aluminum vs cast iron.

Weiand Action Plus p/n 8124 would be a good choice for street too, that's what I have on mine. What heads are you using and what cam do you have?

ford factory aluminum hi rise style manifold. standard on gt350's and as a dealer option, very very very good manifolds. blue thunder makes em with shelby, holman moody, cobra, and ford logo's
