Default mysterious cruching sound

hello everyone -

i've been driving my 66 stang around lately and there has been a very disturbing sound coming from behind the front right wheel. every time we go over a bump or an uneven patch in the road, there is a metal-on-metal crunch coming from, i believe, behind the front right wheel, which can be heard from as far as a block away! we recently replaced the car's shocks with new ones, and there was no sound for about a week, and then it came on without us doing anything else to the car.

any thoughts on where this sound could be coming from or any insight from any past experiences on how to diagnose and/or fix it? i am absolutely clueless as to what to do.

thanks!

Check your ball joints. Jack up the car, grab the wheelon the top and bottom, andsee you you can feel movement in the in and out direction.

and if the Ball joints check out OK, maybe look at the Coil spring rubber insulators bases,http://www.superiormustangparts.com/prodimages/C4DZ-5415-AR.jpg

Remove the car immediately off of the road until you find the problem!!!

Take a large pry bar and lift the front tires while jacked to identify the area then evaluate from there.
