IMHO it is easier to put the motor and transmission in as one unit, and to pull them as two separate units.

Disconnect 6 bell-housing bolts.
Remove starter
Disconnect exhaust
Disconnect wiring harness from alternator
Disconnect grounding strap
Disconnect any other wires
Disconnect fuel line
Remove motor mount bolts
Disconnect coolant lines, water and AT
Disconnect throttle linkage
Disconnect clutch linkage if it is a manual

Have fun

I took my 289 out last weekend with the C4 as one unit. No problem, except I thought my headers would come with it, but they have to be unbolted. There is nothing complicated as long as you be patient and dont rush. Make sure all wires and lines are disconnected to avoid headaches. It's the small things that get to you.

Have fun!!!

Well, I dont have to agree with Daze ALL the time. I like in & out, withengine /tranny as one.

I agree and always do it this way as well.

I've done it in almost any combination of sequences you can think of, and as one piece in and one piece out is by far the easiest way to do it in my opinion. It is more work and takes more time to take them out one at a time, but I can see we all agree to put it back in all together.
