Didnt need new rockers.. The old ones were in great shape.. You guys have to remember, this thing will be my daily driver as soon as its up and running so I built a budget motor with a few upgrades.. I will have my 2 and 4 year old in it dropping them off at day care every day, I have to keep it calm for now.. But later on down the road, 15 or so years,, you can bet that this thing will be a 408 stroker, with enough torque to snap my neck off if im not careful.. I just want my baby to run good and be safe for now..
Im with you there boogerschnot. But in therm of gas mileage, a 600 or so 4 bbl will be better than you 2 bbl, (as long as you don't sink the boot in all the time.) The reason being, the primaries are doing nearly all the work at low throttle openings, and are actaully smaller than the 2 bll venturies. I mention this because you will find that your mileage gets worse with that cam, compared to stock.

Thanks,, I did think about that one, and Im just going to give it the old "oh well" until I can afford the 4 barrel.. Hopefully santa wife will be good to me this year.. I plan on the matching Performer intake and a 600cfm edlebrock,, or a 570 holley street avenger.. Probably going to go with the cheaper of the two..

No problems going the way you have, now that side of its done, and as its a very easy job to chage over the intake and carb later. Maybe have a look at the performer RPM intake rather than the performer. I have the performer and Im happy with it, but I keep hearing its basically a stock replacement. In terms of carb, go with the Street Avenger 570, even if its a little more. I have one, and I honestly cant fault it. It comes with the quick change secondary spring setup, and eaisliy changeable secondary jets. It also has the pcv tube port on the base. Don't worry about the size, they flow better than what they are rated at.
I do like your theory of updates when you can afford them. Im in the same boat with recent twins, so just keep pluging away when you get some spare cash. Big thing is to take plenty of photos, (and timeslips if you go to the track) so that years down the track, you can look back at your progress.
