Tie Rod Ends
yet another question please?
I am doing a frontend conversion, and the steering link from the replacement spindles are size 1/2 inch. while the tie rod ends on the car are 3/8, I realize now that I should had got the tie rods and center link/idler arms when I got the spindles from the doner car, but i thought i would simply just purchase new
tie rod ends, However! now 1/2 way into the conversion I know that I will be neededto do 1 of three things>> eithe drill out the center link ( bad idea)...
2nd option? I have read where a conversion adgusting sleeve can be used..
but where to find them? if not find these, I have thought of perhaps using the smaller tie rods and installing a brass bushing into the steering link of the spindle to reduce the size to fit the 3/8 tie rod.. ????? who as done any of these and what method is the best?
Thanks....

try calling mustangplus....i just upgraded my whole suspension on a 66....My center link and idler arm needed to be replaced to fit the grab a trac suspension parts....I mailed back my contol valve with the center ink to get my core charge.....so mustang plus probably has old, new, reconditioned and 3/8 and 1/2 inch sizes for sale....they are pretty good and I am sure they can get the parts you need..good luck scott
I got the spindles froma '63 fairlane V-8 289 car. I went back to get the other things I needed andthis place had already crush the car, I was even going to get the 289& 3 speed tranny atleast for the bell housing, it was a column shift though
at this place they think more of price of steel then the parts themselfI give 35 bucks for the complete spindles/drum brake/wheel assembly, I have bought egine for 75.00 bucks and transmission for 50.00... but you got to almost be there when the cars are brought in, otherwize to the crusher...[:@]

I saw mustang steve has tie rod end sleeves that allow your 6 cyl tie rod ends to fit into the larger v8 spindles. It's a cone shaped sleeve. I though about them but would not use them because you're still running skimpy 6 cyl tie rods with the weight of a v8. I'm switching everything over to v8 pieces so I can sleep better at night.

Just buy the right parts for what you are doing , it willbe cheaper in the long run , and you will be alot happier ,. Other wise it will cost you more because other wise the car wont perform the way you want it to
