too good to be true? 64.5 vert, $7m
The"car detective" function in my CarSoup garage came up with this new listing today. I've never seen a driveable/decent-looking first-gen convertible priced that low, much less a 64-1/2. Another Stanger that lives in my neighborhood is asking $29.5m for his 64.5 vert (although his isa solid #2 car andalmost trailer queen status).

You are looking on my choice 1964 ½ first generation rust free Mustang Convertible. This is a true Los Angeles car (DSO 71) and has never seen salty back east roads. It came well equipped from the factory with a V8 289 motor, power top, power brakes, power steering, center console, original rally wheels, and a 4 barrel carburetor. You won’t find a more genuine original example Mustang convertible like this one!

Sounds too good to be true to me. Maybe some woman caught her hubby cheating and is selling his prize to get him back.
If it's within distance, I'd at least go look at it.

Go buy it now. Make sure the bottom of it looks as good as the top though. Remember that story about the Mustang that looked awesome on the outside, but the structure underneath was totally rotted.
Let us know.If it's true,your a lucky man.

I emailed through CarSoup (not the yahoo address) and asked to verify price, mechanical soundness, and seller location. City isn't indicated but the distance from me (St. Paul, MN) shows 1400+ miles so I won't be making any weekend trip to see it. If the price and car are legit---and yes I remember that sad story we had from the retired guy a year or so ago where the car was totally rotted underneath the shiny paint job---somebody should grab it.I'll post details when I get a reply.
I smell a rat.BTW, that VIN number placesit in the first month production. Remember thatDearborn 64 1/2 Mustangserial numbers started at 100000. Production was about 25000 per month.
