Default dual point dist.

how many 66 mustangs came with a dual point distributor? i have one in my car and it seems to be original.

i also have a wierd U shaped bracket bolted to the third member of the rear end. does anyone know what it is. it also seems to be original, or at least it was put on 35+ years ago.

It looks like its just hanging there? I had two 66 coups with I6's. Never seen that thing before. It just looks like a giant muffler clamp

I have formed an opinion that the big u-bolt thing may have been some kind of add on / aftermarket brace with the intent of stregnthing the front end of the case.... (3rd member)

I guess if I am right, this idea never really caught on....

Could this be a diff from a car that had a watts linkage setup? And that bracket is the leftovers from it?

no its the original rear end. we think its some kind of torque bracket to handle the LARGE amounts of torque my motor puts out....HAHA NOT. all 213k miles of torque. but yeah its some kind of torque bracket....eh oh well. If my dual point dist IS from a k code, and it IS a factory FOMOCO part, then how much do you think it would be worth. im planning on getting an msd electronic ignition set up soon so it will be coming back out. whoever had it before me must have put it in. cause i know i dont have a k code 289. i have an a code.

Where does the top end attach? Looks like the dogbone off a fox mustang. Dampens vibration in the rear end.

it just wraps around the top. i dont really care about THAT, but i do care about my distributor. would it be worth any money? if it came on k codes, then it would be just as rare as a k code engine right?

This is a top view of the damper off an 8.8 rear, looks like what someone stuck on yours.
