the bottom corner of my driver door has 3 small rust spots. its not big enough to actual replace with sheetmetal though. would u think fiberglass and resin be the best way to go instead of bondo?
Bummer, I think I would use some duraglass for a small patch. I'm trying to think how you could use glass mat and resin, from the inside out then putty over it?
this is what i did for my passenger side door since the bottom half of it was rust or wasnt there. i soaked the matte in resin and layered it so it was a new door skin i then let it dry a bit and placed dry matte on top of it and rolled more resin on that and sanded everything smooth and primed it. u cant tell it was rusted or made of fiberglass till u pick it up
If I were you I would cut the bad metal out. Cut 1" further than the rust and then weld in a small patch. Do it right the first time and never look back. You will be glad you did in the long run. When ever I have to weld small projects I go rent a welder for around $40.
