Default Auto tranny C-4 slipping.

My tranny is starting to go out on me. (auto C-5) I start the car up when it's cold, and warm it up. After she's idling fine, I put her in gear and go for like 15 feet, then all of a sudden she slips out of gear, like it's in neautral when i'm in drive. I wait 15 seconds and then she goes back into gear. I go a little bit more put on the brakes to stop, then all of a sudden it's like it slips into neautral again. So basically I have to wait until the car is FULLY warm/hot tranny is hot to drive it or else i will cause traffic to stop or i might get stuck in an intersection cause she falls out of gear.

I also don't have my kickdown attached so idk if that is causing my tranny to take a **** on me. But i also hear it could be my valve in there so idk. FLuid level is full and clear. But after she is warm, there is NO problems. Only happens when it's cold.

If anyone knows what might be wrong or if you need mroe info just tell me.. Thanks!

Does it do it in Reverse and Low too, or just Drive?

It does it in everything. Drive 2 drive 1 reverse it all slips when it's cold. It's weird.

Also when it happens when I put on the brakesto stop, it kicks out of gear. If i put it in gear andhold the brakes it's fine, then i let off the brakes let it idle 5 ft and stop it, it kicks out..

It could be a stuck servo valve or clogged or restricted oil passageway. Try some TransX and see if that don't help. Make sure you don't overfill the transmission if you add TransX. You may also need a complete flush. If you can rev the engine and the car will go than maybe your pump is weak. Another problem can be your clutches. If they cannot be adjusted made to work, it's time for a new tranny or an overhaul.

My dad thought maybe the pump, or a vaccum leak. But the vaccum checked out. It seems when I take a turn or put on my brakes or stop at an angle it kicks out of gear. Clogged pump you say? Some transx can I get that at Schucks??

here is your problem
(auto C-5)
i have the same tranny in my 67, and it takes off slow like a slip, revs high then snatches you back....of course i have a 3500 stall too, but the c-5 is the WORST tranny ever made by any MFG your best bet is to ditch it and find a c-4. they only made the c-5 for f250's i believe and then it was only produced for a few years, because of the lack of reliability.

I meant C-4 I had that in my title i must have typed C-5 but it's a C4. My mistake.

I don't want to pull the tranny out because it's my only car, i have to pay my college (no financial aid, it's straight out of my pocket) and no money.
Anyonethink they know why it's ****in up? First time it's ever done this.
