Default Timing!

So I've heard countless people say to set your 289 to factory 6*BTC and as many more people saying somewhere between 10-12*BTC. Which is the best or will give best overall performance?

Your motor will probably like between 8 and 12 BTDC. Take it all the way up to 14 and see if it pingswhile slowly acceleratingup a steep hill in high gearon whatever gas you're using (you should be able to run 87or 89 in that motor). If it does, which it likely will, drop it to 12 and try again. Keep going until you get no pinging. That's where it needs to be

+1. Give it all it can take. I use to advance it and give it gas with my foot on the brake. I backed it off until it stopped pinging.
