We are using the poly bushings but I can not compare them to what was used before because (1) I didn't really pay attention before we changed them, and (2) we changed lots of stuff at the same time.

But, in my book, poly bushings are always good... and I do not think they will significantly change alignment. I would only re-align if you have issues after the change, I don't think that you will.

I thought poly bushings were a no-no for these old cars, except the anti-roll bar. But then, what do I know ......

Poly strut rod bushings are VERY BAD. They're so stiff that they will eventually cause the strut rod to snap in half. Many, many people have had this happen. I certainly wouldn't want to be driving a car when the strut rod snaps.

Strut rod bushings need to be rubber. Go with poly for anything else (if you can put up with the sqeaks), but always use rubber strut rod bushings.

On 67 and on Mustangs, usingPoly Strut rod bushings can lead to Strut Rod failure. The design changes in widening the track on post 66 cars, left the transition from threaded to unthreaded strut rod unsupported. When using poly bushings, this allows bending at this transition point, leadingto metal fatigue, and the strut rod can breakwith unpleasnt consequences. The 67-Newer Stangs should use only Stock Rubber Bushings, Hardened Rubber Bushings or Articulated Strut Rods. That said.
The 65-66 Mustangs Do Not share this design flaw, and may use the Poly Strut Rod bushings. The Poly Bushings can be an inexpensive way of reducing slop in the front suspension. But Articulated Strut Rods is a much better, though more expensivesolution. Poly can be an acceptable temporary fix.
Wheather warranted , or not, most Stangers dont want to expose themselves to possible metal fatigue, & opt for hardened rubber bushings.
