Help with 69'
Recently after visiting various tuner shops and slung the same crap from each one I decided to turn to the forums. A year ago my dad bought me a 1969 Mustang Grande w/ a 351 winsor, as a project for me. I havent got around to it much, just some small adjustments but now I am looking to get a little deeper. My goal is to lay out a list of upgrades to doin a year to have the car running as it should. As of right now the car runs fine with about 50,000 miles and an automatic transmission. The suspension has all be re-worked.
I am looking to add some adjustments to the car that will help improve performance, figure the exterior will come last. The upgrades will have to come in small bits, since I am working a job and going to school, and dont have enough money to throw down up front. Iam inexperience with this car, only having done some jobs on a 98 dodge ram. As of right now my first step was gonna be to install a dual exhaust with headers, and go from there.
Hopefully you can give me some ideas of upgrades, to help further the performance of the car.

how much is your budget and how you want to use the car weekend cruiser daily driver road racer or drag racer. been my car roller spring pearches in the front baer tracker tie rod ends maybe rack and pinon .on the rear a watts link. subframe conectors a monte carlo bar and export brace.get brakes from http://www.mustangsteve.com/ they are pbr same thing baer really is the sky and your wallet are the limits.
He said his suspension has be reworked so I imagine anymore suspension upgrades are last on his list. If you have a 2bbl carburetor, think about an edelbrock performer or RPM with a Holley 600. That along with headers and exhaust will be great improvements. Also you might think about a pertronix electronic ignition conversion (about $100) for your factory distributor. You can also go with an electric fan to free up some extra horse power.

Welcome David...
I'm sure you'll get lots of different inputs..so you got the job of compiling and sorting through....
I know you're looking for performance, but i suggest focusing on the safety aspects first...
- brakes? rebuild where required... switch to disc brakes if you don't have them.
- steering - condition of steering box, tie rods, idler etc... make it nice and tight
- lighting - are the headlights/taillamps as bright as possible

Hey,, welcome to the forum.. You and I have the same set up man.. I put in a little warmer cam, and plan on getting a 4bbl intake and carb.. I have already added hooker competition headers, had the engine rebuilt, and fixed up my electrical system..
Some suggestions:
-new wiring would be good
-carb/intake
-headers
-exhaust/H-pipe
-cam
-ignition
-lighting
-guages
-aluminum radiator / new water pump

I have reworked the suspension already, and all drive train has been re-done. So safety equip. has been finished already. Looking to add to it, will have to sort through some of the ideas.
I am learning all the terms and what not. The car is my everyday car, but I also want it to be faster then it is now. Looking to get it dyno'd right now to see what it is running at and work up from there.
*Also had an electronic ignition put in, cause was having some problems with the pins.

Alright I have taken to mind and bought/installed a new exhaust and header system. I was just wondering would it be possible to swap in a manual transmission, it is currently sitting with an automatic. If so which ones would be right for the car?
