From an engineering and functionality stand point witch type of adjuster do you think is better? Assuming that there is no difficulty utilizing either approach which would be better a male rod type adjuster with LH thread on one end and RH threads on the other or a female type adjuster sleeve, same concept LH and RH on each end

Also please add an Aesthetic component to your opinions, in other words witch do you think looks better. Most importantly why do you feel one is better than the other??

daze, my quick think says each will be effective for what you want to do, depending on the heat treatment but I ain't no mechanical engineer

My vote goes to the male adjuster. The SOLID part would have more strenght. IMHO.

I could easily replace the male heim joints with female and not need to trim the A-arm and weld in the stud.

For those UCA's, I think the male adjuster would be the more structurally sound arrangement. If you can get some female-threaded heim joints, you won't have to do any structural welding.

That was what I was thinking, but here is the rub. After doing much research I can get a bulletproof chrome molly heim, but only in the male version. I can get a precision steel heim in the female version, but it is by no means chrome molly. After talking to speedway motors they say they use standard and precision heims for there UCAs, but I would still feel better with chrome molly.

I too think the M X M adjuster would be a better choice. A standard open end wrench can be used to adjust without marring. The female would have to be adjusted with a strap wrench without marring but we all know a pair of channel locks would be used leaving unsightly burrs and marrs. Plus the male adjuster would be the stronger of the two.

I would like to think that the m/m would be better because it is solid however I have a friend with a rod like that for his brake pedal adjustment on his bronco and it broke. Now there is no where near as much stress as you are going to be putting on yours. I tend to think that the threads act as a weak point to allow flex and possible breakage. However there will be threads outside your Female coupler as well. My 2 cents.

If you like the female, you could always weld a nut in the middle that barely slides on and then you could have ease of adjustment with a wrench. Take it for what it is, just two cents lol.
