Default stupid question number one...

out of a lot that you can be sure will be coming.

anyway! My mom put too much oil in my car, really, I'm not just saying it was her to save my ***, it was. I looked it up and read that too much oil can wreak havoc on your engine.. and I also read that you should use a turkey baster & some thin tubing, put it in the hole for the dipstick, and pull some oil out. I trust the people in this forum a whole lot more then others, so is doing that okay?

you could do it that way or take the drainplug out and use your thumb to let oil out. A little messier that way. how much oil do you have in the motor.

I agree on pulling the plug to remove some oil. Get ready to get oily. Have rags handy.

Get 2 milk jugs and a funnel and drain it out into the jugs. Then measure it and pour it back in. Would be alot easier than sucking it out the dipstick tube.

The 289's and 302's take 5 quarts I believe. If you have an i6, not sure for those.

Yeah... and go buy some of those cheap disposiblelatex painter's gloves so you don't get oil all over your hands.

Since we had the baby, I do almost everything in the gloves. Makes it so much easier to clean up.

Just get a drain pan and let out what you think it's over and re-check it. It's nothing to get stressed about.

If you're just wanting to start from scratch, clean the drain pan and drain it all. Even if you're out 5 quarts of oil, you're just out 10 bucks at best. (unless you're using synthetic, then I suggest just draining what it's over.)

Cheers.
