The AFR 185's were $1410 shipped from AD performance. I priced and checked the flow on alot of heads and these looked to be best for my setup. AFR had some valve spring issues and you used to have to get a spring upgrade for $175. They redesigned the valve and spring setup and they come setup for lift upto 600 and the spring issues are behind them. Patriot headsare cheaper, but Im almost at the finish line with building this motor and all the money I have spent so far I didnt want to cheap out on the heads because thats where alot of the power comes from. So I went with a proven head I feel comfortable with.

Yeah, Thats what the rep said, no longer a need for the spring upgrade unless your running over 600 lift. Thats what sealed the deal for me buying them from AD performance they were honest, becuase I had all intentions of buying the spring upgrade, and nobody on Ebay or anywhere else mentioned the fix AFR made to there springs. Then there a master seller for AFRand gave me the best price. Honesty and the best pricethat makes me feel a little better about spending $1400bucks.

NICE!

I've been reading all over that those heads flow VERY WELL.
MM&FF built a 375HP / 400lbft 302 with those heads, a Comp Cams
XE274HR hyd roller on a stock short block.

Congrats!

My AFR 165's are going on this weekend, actually starting today. Just waiting for the hardened pushrods & RR's. I bought them used for $900, no smog 61 cc. Ialmost hada set of 58cc 165's, but I let them get away by not acting soon enough. Guy had already put them on Epay.
