Default Torque Converter !!!

Drivetrain:
390 FE (C7ME-A with only around 2,500 miles on rebuild)
TRW 2291 Forged Pistons
C6AE-R ("Poor Man's Cobra Jet") heads
Holley Street Dominator intake manifold
Comp Cams 268H "K-kit" during rebuild (new cam, springs, valve stem seals, timing chain)
Hooker Super Comp Headers(6114s)
Mallory Unilite 3755301 Distributor, Mallory coil and wires
Holley Street Avenger 770
C6 Transmission - New flexplate - New torque converter (stock, 1600 stall I believe)
9" Rear - Trak-Lok - 3.89:1

I need a strong torque converter....any ideas?

Thanks, ill look into them. What do you think about the "street fighter" or the "breakaway", USM?... look at the chart at the bottom of the page.

i think i would go with the breakaway, mostly because of the variety of things it can be used. the street fighter is a straight up street racer, where as the break away with the lower stall ~24-2600 will still allow for a stiff launch and smooth acceleration and "hard shifts" then can drive it home from the track. STREETABILITY....i think the Breakaway will be the better bet for you, back those with 3.50's or 3.73's and you'll be mor than happy with you setup.
and add an agressive cam like a 270* 275* and you cream you pants when you gain traction!

I plan to add a more aggressive cam setup next winter. The 390 was JUST rebuiltlast march with the 268h "k-kit" and i think it will be a waste to swap it out so soon. 3.50s to 373s as in trak lok? I have 3.89 9 " rear...is that not good?

go check out edge racing, i have one of their 2800 stalls in my II and i love it. they will build the converter to your needs because whats a 2800 stall in my II with my setup is not going to be a 2800 stall in your car with your setup. plus, you get a free tshirt
