Default Differential widths?

A link in the FAQ says the `67 9" differentials are 59.25" from housing flange to housing flange. Can someone confirm this?

I'm going to build a new 9" for myself and found a cheap one within driving distance, but it is roughly an inch wider at 60.37". Would this create an issue with my wheels sticking out?

Im not sure if it is out of a mustang or not, I just sent an email, but Im guessing its not, so I would have to find appropriate length axles for whatever model it is too, right?

Thanks, Nic

it will be 9/16" out wider on each side, so do you think that will create an issue....probably depending on which wheels youve got now, and if it does id just use the 2x4 trick to roll out the fenders a little bit.

Good point, and Ill be running 7" wheels with 4.25bs so that should suckin alot better than my 8.5" wheels with 4"bs now.

I happen to have a 8.8 disc brake model out of a 98 explorer that will be finding a home in my '68, believe they were 58 3/8"?? Anyone gone this route? May be cheaper than a 9". Shoot just remembered mines in my jeep and has 4.88's!!!
