There are plenty of "Shelby" mods you can do to the coupe that look great...It's your car...do it your way...Have fun!

Most of the "Shelby" look stuff is fiberglass bolt on. Hood, front valance, side brake scoops.
What are you looking to do? Or are you really looking to do the performance stuff too??

The biggest motor you can put in a 66 will be a 351 W unless you take out the shock towers and so . to make the car a Fastback you have to change the roof quarte panels trunk lid ,so on it would be easier to just buy a Fastback , and less expensive in the long run

The guy in this link converted his red coupe to a blue 2+2 http://web.comporium.net/~ronniek/11.html
So it can be done, I hope you've got experience.
A 428?? Sounds like you need to start with a 67-68, instead. For the 65-66 go with a Windsor stroker, which you can take to 427 if your so inclined.
