The new Secret Audio setups have an iPod thingie I'm told, but I don't do iPod stuff.

I can post a pic of my Secret Audio in the glovebox (in either car) if interested. I'm sure I've posted pics of the radio in the Mustang here a few times

I actually installed a couple hundred dollars worth of *moderate* equipment that I had laying around. (I took out of my Jeep that I sold to by the mustang.) Anyway, I even purchased the CD/DIN holder from Mustangs Unlimited so that it fit in the dash of my 67.

I think I can count on one hand how many times I've turned it on. I always find I enjoy listening to the purr of my dual exhaust. (Or even sometimes trying to listen for audible clues as to problems with the engine!)

So truthfully, I wish I had the couple hours I spent on installing the system back, or utilized the time on restoring another aspect of the car.

Good luck, whatever you decide.

The remote works even without opening the glovebox. But, occasionally, in heavily wooded areas, you lose the infrared signal and can't change the radio station.

What about the Electro-Tech radio rebuild like in the FAQ? Are these the same as the Custom Autosound radios that have a bad rep on this forum?

I think I'm in the same boat as TexasAxMan.....all Iwant is an mp3 input. I don't even care about a radio. I don't really know anything about car stereos, but it seems to me there would be some type of small amp with either 1/8 in or RCA ins (use 1/8 to RCA adaptor) and just bypass the radio all together.

Is this possible?

I would like to get an original non-working radio, but it must be in excellent-looking shape, no rusted out stuff.

Yes - and No. Theoretically you have a creative idea. But in actualality (sp?) you would get a horrendous pop every timeyou plugged in (andunplugged)your ipod. You would be dependent on the ipod's volume to control the amps output, since the amp sensitivity would be too hard to adjust if its in your trunk, et al. Also, you would have to get creative with the amp power signal - I guess this could be controlled by a simple switch though.

Let us know if you decide to go this route. Good luck.
