Torque is what Im worried about with my T-5. It will be behind a 347 with a Z303 cam and AFR185 heads. The T5 I have is out of a 91 GT. Here is a quoteabout those trannies, note the 300 ft lb torque rating. Im hoping to be a little over that. My friends arewagering bets as to how long it will last. Most say 2 months. The first month I will baby it and the second month I wont be able to resist not babying it.

"1990 to 1993 the stock Ford production V-8 WC T-5 was upgraded with stronger 3.35 gear set by increasing the nickel content to produce a harder, stronger gear. 2nd and 3rd gear ratios were decreased slightly tp provide more torque to the rear wheels. Synchro linings on 3rd, 4th were improved by changing from fiber linings to carbon fiber to further improve the friction surface resulting in better high rpm shifts. A longer throw shifter was installed to "make shifting easier". The speedo drive gear was changed from 7 tooth to 8 tooth. The 8 tooth was a step backwards when installing lower rear axle ratio greater than 3.55 as the driven gear is limited to 21tooth count. Yes, 23 tooth gears are available but do not last long as the teeth are thin and do not mesh correctly. Torque rating jumped to 300ft/lbs."

As for anyone who wants to purchase the tremec 3650that I cant use, Note it cant be used in a non modular motor. If your running a 4.6 great, you can use it.

There are guys running street cars into the12's on stock T5's, it takes more than 300ft-lbs to do that. If you drive well and shift properly(ie, no power shifting, clutch dumping etc) it should last for quite a while, and for about $1,100 that GForce kit will basically double the power capacity for the T5
