Default What block to use?

I would like to start looking for a block to build a stroker with. I would like a newer style roller block but that is about all i know. I am thinking 347 . What should i look for? I found an 87 roller shortblock for $125. is this good or do i need something else?

That'll do. One peice rear main, stock roller lifters. Can't beat it for cost effective.

None really to avoid per say. they're all weak. lol Doesn't matter if it has been bored. 30 isn't the max. Mine is .040 and is fine. Depends on the block and how much metal will be left after the bore. I've seen many at .060

what kind of power are you looking for?
max outta a 302 your gonna get is 550 your safe bore over is about .040, you can take it to .060, but your main is getting real thin, i would only reccommend the .60 over if your planning on blowing that SOB up.i would stay away from the 86 302 they had problems with head flow,
If your going 351 look for a 69 351 its godly, a 351 is thicker and will hold about 750hp on the max side, my personal choice would be the 351 stroked to a 393/408. its hard to beat a 351.

thanks for the replies!! the power of a 331 or 347 will be plenty for this car. so a roller 302 bored .040 over looks like a safe bet for me.

i have a set of AF 165's on my cobra now. I relaly like so i will keep my eyes open. I was thinking maybe the 185 would be better for a stroker but i am not an expert by any means so am open to suggestions.
