Default Fordainia from the ground up.

Greetings,

Its been a while since I posted in the section but I wanted to give you guys a heads up of what I've been working on.

This is what the engine bay looked like.

After around 8 hours of sand plasting, priming, and painting I now have this...

I will be putting the car up on jack stands next wednesday and starting on the undercarriage. With a full week off of work and a free weekend I should be able to get the underbody done!

I also started dissasembling the engine that was previously running. It was a lot nastier then I expected. What was first just going to be a new rear main seal and a gasket job has turned into a lot more work.

I don't even know what all that garbage on the heads. Now I'm strongly considering getting a port and polish on the heads, new valves, a new cam, and a rebuild. I would really like to get around 300hp, so I am open to recommendations.

Wow, that engine bay is like night and day now, really nice job. Good luck with the engine rebuild, that is some weird gunk on the heads. What kind of media did you use to blast it?

I'm just using sand. Granger had closed for the night, but finely sifted play sand from home depot did the trick.

Itis just kyrlon semi gloss black rattle can paint, but we did a lot of prep work to make it look better and keep rust from coming back!

Nice work PReal!!! A little time and effort pays off tremendously. Thats a drag about the motor. A little more time and effort, and you'll have her slinging rubber. I am definitely no expert at guessing power, but I have asked around. It sounds like you will be all over what you want. Let us know how is turns out.

I'm actually going to replace the tranny anyway so the engine is just one more slight setback.

At least the body work is labor intesive and cheap so I can save some money for the motor.

That engine bay looks great! Make sure you take pics of the under carriage before and after. When the car is all finished you can look back on the pics and remember all the hard work you did.
