Thanks, Tad. That keeps it real simple. So what do you think of my torque numbers from the dyno? Decent?
I think the numbers themselves are decent, but the curve is erratic and could possibly mean that the engine needs some tuning. Small variations can be expected, but I've never seena curveas erratic as yours.

The curves at the bottom of this page: http://www.kkpony.com/kkp-NewEngine.html
are what I'm used to seeing (referring to the smoothness of the curves themselves, not the ridiculous power being made on a smallblock)

Tad~
I doubt you are interested in looking back at the thread I had going about my recent dyno tune but that is it above... The curve was perfectly smooth in the run prior to this final one. The first two were even more choppy. We made a few final adjustments and then did this final run up to 5500rpm. I think one of the biggest factors here is that I am running with a C4 and it kicked down at about 4600rpm and threw everything off a bit, and shifted all through the run... Unfortunately something is wrong with my tranny (I think it is probably a simple fix...) but I cant shift manually down to first or second. So we had to run in drive and it was shifting all through the runs. I know the gear is not supposed to affect the hp and torque but the measurements must slip a little when shifting... And the curve could be rounded out, even if a little choppy, but the numbers are plotted every 100rpm and I think it is a little more precise than some older dyno equipment. I was talking this stuff through with some help from gothand among others and I felt the curve was as good as it was going to get.
Do you think that it should be tuned further still?

All you need to remember is that HP = Torque x RPM รท 5252. HP is an imaginary number calculated from torque.

The saying goes: horsepower sells cars, torque wins races.
Actually, it's a real number. Imaginary numbers are a whole different domain.

This should be a sticky.

Ahh, that would do it. You're going to tweak the curve when the tranny shifts. If that's the case, I think you're fine

OMG I LOVED THAT PAGE!!!!!!!!!!! I just spent the last hour running potential hp and tq numbers of different rpm's! lol, I'm going to finish this semester over here in England, then its back to Texas to get ready for engineering, I'm thinking about ME but maybe going into aeronautical mechanicial engineering industry or something...

The square root of negative numbers FTW!!!!!

My old shop teacher explained it this way: Torque is what gets you started and horsepower is what gets keeps you going.
Enzo Ferrari put it this way: "Torque is what gets you to the wall, horsepower is what gets you throught it."

The reality is torque is the force that moves the car, and horsepower is a way of measuring torque relative to engine speed
