Should I part-it-out?
I'm wondering if my 71 Coupe is worth more in parts than as a complete car. The engine runs, not sure about the trans, floor pans are starting to see some rust, not through yet. Little rust in rear fenders behind the wheels. I only have one bucket seat that needs restoration, back seat needs restoration. It has a 302 automatic, no A/C.
It's pretty much all there, just needs to be cleaned up and assembled.
Original color was Grabber Blue, vinyl top; thinking about finishing it without the vinyl top.
I know the post-70s cars are not that popular... any opinions?
Any idea what it would be worth the way it is or running and driving?

What you should do...in my opinion...is check the prices to do all of the work. Compare that with the value of the car as a finished product. This would give you a common sense approach. You have to take into consideration how rare the car is also. Is it a big block originally, or what. From your description it sounds like it wouldn't be too hard to get back into great shape. I do agree with soaring though; in that almost ANY Mustang should be brought back. They aren't making the classics any more and they will all go up in value eventually. You have one of a three year body style run which is cool too. I like the "big" Mustangs as much as any of them. I guess I said all of this to lead to my point....If it is worth the money spent to you, fix it. If not I would sell it whole to someone who will restore it. Just my 2 cents.

engine and trans are cheap don't worry about that. As long as the body is in one piece and not rusted through restore it! I got a new engine and a junk trans for 700!!! talk about build a car on a budget. Running 302's are a dime a dozen!
After pressure-washing it I found the drivers side fender was tacked on and welded here and there. Seems to me it was in an accident. Can't really tell by looking at it until you get under the hood.
I'm kinda leaning towards parting it out...
anyone else need parts for a 71-73??

The rear end has 10" brakes, does that make it a 10" rear end? I'm not sure, the car was not driveable when I got it. It looked like someone was taking it apart, not sure. The body is all straight, a little bondo, interior was all dirty, only one front seat, highback. The rear seats are there, need re-upholstering, but not that bad. I have a front bench seat from a 65-68? in it now. Engine runs, ran it for about 30 seconds. Not sure about the trans.
