springs
I guess I got lucky, my front bolt came loose easily and with a tap or 2 with a hammer came right out. Only problem I had was one of the shackle bolts, should have cut it, but I wrenched it till it broke.
If I were you, I'd go standard height. You can install lowering blocks to get your stance right, but you can't raise it if it's too low. JMO YMMV

I had no trouble at all getting my front eye bolts out. Also, you DO NOT need to disconnect the brake lines, or the driveshaft. Support the car's weight on jackstands, and all you need is a floor jack, disconnect the u-bolts, jack up the axle to about ride height and remove the leafs. Install the new leafs making sure the axle is on top and bolt the axle back to the leafs using the u-bolts. AND VOILA!
lower your axle slowly to make sure everything was attached snugly and properly. It may be a little difficult to get in the rear shackles, if you want you could simply remove the gas tank for this. TRUST ME IT MAKES IT A LOT EASIER.
Hope this helps.

it really dos't sound that bad. I have jack stands and a jack, and i am in no real hurry to get it done "getting cold here". I plan on just taking my time, and doing it right. I did pre soak the bolts with penatratinglube, i figure that should help. After the install i will be thinking tires and wheels. Thank you for all your ideas.
well tonight started the tear down. started with the car on jack stands with the rear hanging. i started on the right side first. The bolts were not that bad after letting them sit all day with PB (penatrating Blast) stuff is great.

after getting the right side free, with a pry bar and alittle bite of a nice size hammer off she came
On to the other side, this side was alittle harder, a box end ratcheting wrench worked between the fuel tank and the shackle. If you do not have a ratcheting box end, you'll need to remove the fuel tank. With alittle work, she came out.

Look ma, No springs. At the same time i cleaned up the rear and under carriage. Little bit a paint makes a differance. Now she sits and waits for new springs. should be here by thursday.

This picture was taken as the right side leaf was unbolted, i just liked the picture

dr1965,
Looks great and jealous! I'm a low rider in the back right now. I have my new leaf springs stitting in the garage though but had no time to get them on as of yet. What Penetrating Blast did you use? I did a net search and it came back negative. Does a autoparts store carry it? I have WD40 and Liquid Wrench...is that what you are referring too. As a back up I have my Z-Saw.
