Default Starter Solenoid Question

Take a look at the picture I upload, and assist me in knowing where these 5 wire/rubber boots go. They're numbered as well for easier identification.

i post and s post? I'm assuming it's the 2 sticking up out of the solenoid with the nuts on them? I'm also assuming that the boots just get put on?

I have a picture of it in my Chilton manual, but the picture is so old looking, it's hard to see. Anyone have actual color pictures for me to look at, maybe even number what's what in regards to the picture I posted.

There should be a"S" and an"I" on the solenoid. ignition is i and the white boot goes to that, starter is s and the red boot goes on that one. The post closest to the batery cable should be the s post.

Im going to be purchasing a new starter solenoid as they're cheap from CJPonyParts. Now, according to the picture in the Chilton book, the box that I'm holding in the picture is the voltage regulator. If so, I'm going to buy a new one of those as well as they're not expensive either. Do I need to know anything special about them before I install them, or is it pretty much plug in and go.

I'd still love to see a good color picture under someone's hood of the setup using the stock stuff (not MSD etc)

This is why you need the Factory Shop Manual. Accurate pictures and wiring diagrams.

Great picture, and I now know where # 1 and # 2 go, but 3,4,5 still unsure. #3 is a straight style rubber boot, #4 obviously goes behind a nut somewhere, and #5 has a rubber boot but there's a protruding wire coming from it.

You can pick one up at any parts store too they are pretty common and cheap, just make sure the one you get has 2 small post like yours instead of just 1....

I checked with AdvancedAutoParts website, and they carry both the voltage regulator and starter solenoid for some really good prices and it saves me shipping.

Still waiting to hear from someone what the 3,4,5 wires are from my diagram. I've been looking on the web but can't seem to find the information I need.
