Default good kit?

just wondering if anyone has experience with this kit

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...p;autoview=sku

or not?? or should i just piece it together - i mean which things will work great with lightly ported stock 289 heads an RPM intake manifold and a 600 cfm - i was thinking in that kit the 670 is too big? ? any help is appreciated thanks.

Default RE: good kit?

What's been done to the bottom end? That's a big cam for a stock 289. As muchduration and morelift than I had with my last cam in my 331. It will definitely want to wind up to make power, but I wouldn't trust the stock bottom end to wind up that far.

You might also have valve clearance issues unless you have pistons with valve reliefs. You will definitely have valvetrain issues with the stock valvetrain. The stock valve springs won't handle that cam, and thecorrect valve springs will pull the pressed in studs right out of the heads.
