Anybody have info on what is needed to relocate my battery from the engine compartment to the trunk, like in the early Shelby's?

Battery box and about 20 feet of cable. There are kits, but you can just buy the parts at the parts store. Cable from welding supply house.

i am assuming i would keep the solenoid in it's same position, and just run leads to the battery?

Yep, the neg you can ground to the trunk floor, scrape paint to make a good connection. Run pos thru the cabin to the eng compartment. Make sure you have a good ground from engine to firewall. I've also heard audio cable works well, some say run 4 ga. but I think 0/1 is best.

It's actually pretty easy on these cars. I did it on my coupe. Just make sure you plan it befroe you start.

One thing to consider, is if you go to a track that enforces the rules more strictly, they'll require you to have a safety shutoff switch clearly visible and marked on the rear of the car if you have a relocated battery

Check out JamesW's site....

http://www.midnightdsigns.com/Mustang/Battery.htm

He did a write up of relocating the battery in his fastback. Same difference, and it really cleans up the engine compartment!
