pony doors

Default pony doors

i need a door. other than the hole for the light are there any other differences between a pony and a standard door? thanks! 66 mustang.

NO. Be sure to transfer your door/window mechanisms to the new door.

thanks riverside, i plan to do this. what i wanted to know was is there any differences in the door shell itself. i wasn't too clear on this.

Theinterior door mechanismthat sticks out (the round thing with thegrooves on it to receive the interior handle) has to be longer to receive the door handle on the inside because of the chrome plate that backs the handle.

I think what he is saying that the door shell is the same, the mecanics of the window cranks and door handles are different because of the pony trim. The sheet metal doors themselves are the same.

Why do you need a door unless its full of rust holes inside and out you can just reskin the outside of it.

thanks everyone.

andrew: the skin that's on it is hanging loose because the bottom part of the door is rusted away.
this is the passenger door, drivers side is ok. the sills underneath the door are ok. go figure.

The only other difference I can think of is the hole at the front to allow the pony light cable to exit. Standard door won't have this hole.Make sure you make the hole (drill or punch) before you put all the guts back in.
