Default Which Body filer?

I recently spoke with a professional car restorer and i was told that he covers all of his cars with body filler then sands it all off leaving a skim coat, he uses a body filler by USC.I went to a body shop store and there are alot to choose from which one wouldwork best?
this looks good but i dont know much about it

Most do put a skim coat on, but be careful to do this is a very dry enviroment. Bondo can trap moisture and we all know that can be rather bad for our sheet metal. I don't know what is the best brand/type but see if you can get specifics from the pro.

Unless you are a professional or building a original show car I wouldn't even think of it. There are so many safety issues, that stuff is poison. I would stick with the skim coat of bondo to just have a clean smooth surface to paint on, nothing thick at all, just enough to take car of the minor imperfections that would only show after you paint.

I agree with you on seeing it used wrong alot. It should only be used as a final touch to get all the invisible imperfections out with block sanding. I don't like it when people clump it on, it looks awful even through the paint. Could you give me some info on the lead free body soilders?

I agree - unless you are a professional - don't do it! An amateur attempt will make it look considerably worse.

see it thru the paint someones not doing something correctly, its a lost art we were not shown how to use it at all in the entire 2 yr collision repair course i graduated from. but there are alum based body filler(metal to metal, all metal etc) that offer far superior corrision resistance as opposed to lead and are easier to apply and safer etc but for a regular filler id get some evercoat z grip its priced decent and wipes great

i like to use evercoat.... rage gold, it is a good filler then use a good poly on top of it to get rid of pinholes.
