Default axle u- bolts

so I was reassembling my rear springs and axle. when I came across a problem. myU bolts were too small. I've got 2 sets of them, one from a master chassis bolt kit, and another from when I ordered my leaf springs. I don't have the old ones to compare with.

Would a 67 9in rear end have wider axle shafts than a stock 64.5??? can I just buy the U bolts for a 67 and not have to worry about those being too small???

I had the same problem change the ujoint to what fits the pinion.
If it fits the rear end fine take the ujoint to napa for them to match the STRAPS is what the tech term is. lol
I had Ujoints that werent wide enough and the vibration was awful.
When I did the axle i oreder a currie 9" with 1330 Ujoints fits like a glove when it all matched up.
No telling what ujoint is in there now or what that rear end came off of if its not the factory unit.
Take both pieces in if you have to to figurer which and what is not correct.

Hope this helps.

He's talking about the u-bolts for the leafsprings, not the u-joints..

I threw my old ones out awhile back or i'd measure them for u...

Sounds like you went from an axle with tappered tubes to one with full 3 inch round tubes. Should be easy enough to buy replacement bolts...of course then you will also need to slot your shock mount plates so that it will all bolt together

I didn't change the shock mount plates. the only thing I did was put new leaf springs and u bolts in. oh and a couple of coats of paint. I wish I had a camera to show

I bought my axle bolts from a bolt supplier. Cheaper and stronger. Just get the measurements of what you want and take it in to a specialized shop.
