Default timing markings?

I'm tinkering with a '65 automatic. Can't seem to find timing marks. Manual shows a bracket with degree marking's.I don't see it. Is it on the driver side of flywheel? Someone told me it is on the block. Could bracket have been removed?

there is a pin, which comes from the block over the the crank pulley. the pulley itself holds the markings (in degrees).
I'll make a picture as I'm with camera anyway now ...

you're lucky. my engine is currently at 4 degrees after TDC as it's standing (so it's easy to see). Where the red and white indicators are is a ruler with degree markings.
They're usually very bad to see with that age, so marked it with red and white colour.

There should be a timing pointer attached to the timing chain cover on the driver's side of the car. If yours is missing you can buy a replacement pointer made by Scott Drake from most of the restoration catalog sources.
