Default Header Gaskets

Had an exhaust shop tell me he didn't want to deal with headers because the gaskets blow to often for him to warranty.

Looking to put on Tri-y's and replace the rusted out cherry bombs on my 69 vert 302 C4 thats lowered about 2" in the front from a A-arm mod. Rear is also lowered 1". Rest of the dual exhaust with h pipe still in good shape.

Any opinions?

Do it the way you want. Get copper gaskets if that makes things better. Put the headers on yourself then take it to an exhaust shop so they can run the rest.

I wouldn't expect a shop to warranty header gaskets for exactly that reason. Doesn't mean they can't do the work, just don't expect a warranty on that part of it.

However, there are gasket-less header flanges now that work pretty well (one of my buddies has them on his pickup). Summit sells them, if you're interested.

local racetrack guys all used hard fiber header gaskets with red hi-temp RTV on em...... and i mean they ALL used that combination, so it must work
