I just bought a 71 Mach (351 4v - C6)and noticed it has a column with a shifterarmbut has floor shift. I thought all mustangs were floor shift is this true?

The manual transmission cars have a movable collar on the steering column that ineracts with the transmission. It's an interlock that makes you put the transmission in reverse in order to get the key out. This is likely what the OP is asking about.
