Default Problem Starting

I've been having problems searching the forum today, and I know that many people have probably asked this question, so sorry for the repetition.

I've had a hard time starting my mustang for the last while. It takes a couple cranks to get it going... and recently my battery wore out because of it. I've noticed that it takes longer when I park with the nose higher than the tail end, which is telling me I have a fuel pump problem.

I'm also currious why this happens? Can gravity pull the fuel back to the tank, and air get into my fuel line? What do you think?

Doesn't matter if you park on level ground, over time (a couple days) the fuel will drain back into the tank. I drive the Mach basically once/week and have a hard initial start-up, but I don't have a choke either. Weather may also be causing this. Fuel should however be staying put in the carb.

I drive my 70 coupe every day. Every morning it takes a while to get going, and worse when I park uphill. Any suggestions?

My 2 cents :
For the parking uphill issue, the float bowl will drain into the manifold if the grade is steep enough through the venturi, which consequently will cause hard starting due to fuel saturation in the manifold. The carb also has a float that shuts off or limits the amount of fuel that can be stored in the float bowl so I'm having a difficult time buying into the gravity flow back to the tank unless the float needle has somehow become opened. The most likely scenario I can formulate is that the fuel in the carb is evaporating and the increase in cranks is to refuel the bowl, thus providing fuel for starting.
