three on the tree shifter?

Default three on the tree shifter?

Howdy all,

When I was a kid back in the late 1960s, one of our neighbors had a stock Mustang that I would swear had a three-on-the-tree shifter. Whenever I mention that to people, though, nobody seems to remember stock Mustangs with three-on-the-tree shifters, and I haven't been able to find evidence of this in any of the admittedly small bit of research I've done online. Could one of the knowledgeable folks out there confirm that such a shifting system did or did not exist on the early Mustangs? Are there any links to this online that anyone knows about? I would greatly appreciate an answer to this question that has been bugging me for years!

A stock mustang no someone changed the steering column from a different ford.

no mustang came stock with 3 on the tree.

Nope, no stock mustang ever came with three on the tree.

I to say there was never a three on the the tree. I would like anyone to prove that there was. This would be great knowlegde to have. I hope someone can prove us all wrong.Where is Soaring when you need him.

No column shift mustangs. Either floor manual or automatic. Even in the bench seat models.

Never heard of it as a stock option. Go here www.mustangspecs.com it will give you the factory options of all the classic mustangs. But it could of been optioned from the dealer for all we know like that. Dealers had some crazy options back then, you could have a TV installed even. Or like everybody else said someone else did it.

perhaps it was a cougar your neihbor had?(unless your posetive it was a mustang) dont know much about em..but i thought i saw somthing about them wiht three on the tree. could be wrong tho

The cougar i doubt the falcon and fairlane did i believe.

Perhaps it was a Camaro? My buddy's '67 Camaro 'vert with an I-6 had a 'three on the tree'.
