Default can someone decode?

this is on the tag of my car. it's a 1967 coupe

65A Y 2U K24 27 W I or 1

i've looked around and nothing matches for a W in my year for rear axle nor an I for the transmission in my year, only a 1 so i'm guessing it's a 1... but code 1 = 3 speed manual and mines an automatic? everything else matches up except the rear axle code and the trans. if anyone can help please let me know.

That tag is off your engine. I have one on mine that is attached to the intake manifold.

289 = Displacement
67 = Year Model
14 = Change Level
6-K = Year-Month of production
236-A = Engine Code Number

maybe it should be the other way round which would make perfect sense:

Axle:1 ---> 3:00 gear ratio in rear axle
Trans:W --> C4 automatic

maybe your doortag is stamped the wrong way round or something :-)

i'm guessing thats correct then - but it's printed backwards or something since the axle code is before the transmission code. wonder why.. maybe someone was drunk on the assembly line
