Default Need some help

Hey guys, this is my first time posting in this section. I usually stick to the S197 section, since I own one and modify it.

I always loved the classic mustangs but dont know too much about modifying them, I'm thinking about buying a 1965 Mustang 289 ci coupe, painting it black, throwing on aShelby GT 350 front bumper with black grille, a cowl hood, and CS67 18" wheels.

I'd also like to swap out the 289 and put in a 302 but thats further down the line.

How much would all this cost, I'd probably spend about 5-8 grand on the car, and then add the mods.

What are the best websites for the 65'-66' mustangs?

also if anyone has pics of their 65' & 66' stangs, please post them.

Thanks.
Dennis

Personally I would buy a later year classic if your gonna mod it. They are alittle easier to work with. I think the 64-66 models look best original, but hey, thats just me..

I get catalogues(sp?) from mustangs unlimited, and they have a nice selection of all the things I need to order

their website is www.mustangsunlimited.com

I never use it though so i'm not sure if it has everything in their catalogue

I bought a lot of front suspension parts from them

I really dont care what year, but wouldnt go past 70'. Do you guys know of online places that sell mustangs? I checked ebay, andcraigslist but they are all too expensive for my purposes ( I cant see spending 20k on a car then taking parts off to add new ones, and re-painting it)

Craigslist and ebay have some cheaper ones just keep watching them till you see a nice car that has crappy paint so a new paint job won't go to waste

craigslist is great for finding good deals on cars, i got my coupe for $2500 on craigslist. Fresh 302 v8, no rust or anything. i did have to paint it do interior and i upgraded to discs so i have about $6k into it including purchase price. it is what you make it, you can get a really good platform to start with for $5k if you are patient. also, im not sure how good those 18" rims will look on a classic, i have 17's and i think they are bordering on being to big.

also, the 289 and 302 are practically the same engine, a 351w would be a better engine to swap if you wanted more power.

yeah that R looks great, I thought that was a coupe.

I wasnt too sure on wheel sizes for classics, but I knew the 18's are very conservative for the S197's. but your 17's look really nice.

If I find a nice one, I'll post it on here and see if you guys think its a good buy.
