Default Performance Intake

Hey guys, my dad just bough me a new intake for my car because my old one was cracked....well he got me a higher pefrfromance intake, it has 360 dagree ports.......well when we put it on my car would not idle....would a higher performance intake make it so I would have to readjust my carb?

did you check all the vaccum ports? and all other holes and whatnot? i installed a edelbrock performer and forgot 1 plug. i didnt see it neither did my dad and my car wouldnt idle cause, well, we left a hole unplugged. make sure all holes are plugged and if the engine is running, spray carb cleaner around all seals and holes to see if it has any leaks. i dont know EXACTLY what your asking/talking about but this is all i can help you with.

Yeah, there are often holes in the intake for vacuum accessories, so double check the backside of the plenum, and all the runners. If it's a 360* intake then it's prolly a single plane, which may not be the best intake if your engine isn't built to the hilt enough for it, and you'll end up with no intake vacuum and it'll be hard to idle(possibly, depends on how your engine is built). Also you'll need to readjust your carburetor for the different intake, it may be too rich/lean at idle. Most likely it may have a lean idle condition if the intake vacuum is lower at idle, it can't pull enough fuel from the idle circuit. Try readjusting the idle mixture and idle speed on the carb after you check for vacuum leaks.
